18 inch doll dress knitting pattern

Elegant summer outfit for happy, bright summer-days

First, I knitted a lovely dress in grey for your doll.

The edge round the dress is knitted in pink with a lovely flower pattern above the edge. The flowers put my thoughts to lovely summer days. . Finished without sleeves I think the dress is lovely to be on your doll on a bright summer day.

Dress
Cast on 180 sts in pink and continue knitting in the round 5 rows st st.  Change to grey and knit 4 rows ga. (k1 row, p 1 row, k1row, p1row = 2 ridges on the RS). Change to green and knit 2 rows ga (k1 row, p1 row = 1 ridge on the RS). Change to grey and knit 2 rows st st before knitting pattern. (See diagram). Continue knitting st st in grey until work measures 13 cm. Next row. Begin at 1 side: P7, k76, p14, k76, p7. Knit 1 row and repeat these 2 rows twice.  Next row. Cast off for the armholes like this: Cast off 4 sts, k82, cast off 8 sts, k82, cast off 4 sts. Then continue knitting front and back separately.
Front: Continue knitting 3 rows st st inside 3 edge sts. Next row: K2tog across row inside edge sts = 44 sts on row. Continue knitting 3 rows ga over all sts = 2 ridges on the RS. Continue knitting 9 rows st st and edge sts. Next row from the WS: 3 edge sts, p8, k22, p8, 3 edge sts. Knit 1 row st st. Repeat these 2 rows twice. On next row decrease for the neckline like this: K3 (edge sts), p8, k3, cast off 16 sts, k3, p8, k3 (edge sts) Continue knitting each side separately like this: 4 sts st st between 3 edge sts ga at each side 4 rows altog.  Put shoulder sts onto a cable ndl.
Back: Continue knitting in the same way as knitted front until 2 rows ga are knitted over all sts.  Then divide work and knit each side separately to get an opening along the center back.  Continue ...

Should the evening be chilly I am sure you will love a beautiful jacket for your doll. This jacket knitted in pink is a little wide round the waist and have small stripes knitted in grey garter sts along the edge and round the neckband.

The edges round the sleeves are knitted in grey stocking stitches. Buttoned with grey buttons along the front band the jacket should be superb for your doll.

Cast on 150 sts in pink and knit 4 rows st st inside 5 sts at each side knitted in ga = front band.  On next row k5 edge sts front band) in pink, change to grey and knit until 5 sts are left on row, change to pink and knit 5 sts front band in pink. Next row. K5 sts in pink, change to grey and knit until 5 sts are left on row, change to pink and knit these sts in pink. Continue knitting in pink and knit 4 rows ga over all sts.  Continue knitting st st inside 5 sts front band knitted in ga at each side until work measures 3 cm before knitting the 1st buttonhole like this: K2, k2tog, yon. Repeat buttonholes like this every approx.. 3.5 cm. (4 buttonholes in total). Continue knitting st st and front band until work measures 10 cm before casting off for the armholes like this: K36, cast off 6 sts, k66, cast off 6 sts, k36. Continue knitting front and back separately.
Right side front: Purl next row inside edge sts. Continue knitting st st and front band and at the same time decrease 1 sts along the armhole every second row 5 times altog. Purl next row.  On next row do the following decreases: K6, k2tog 4 times, k across row = 27 sts on row. Continue knitting st st and front band until work measures 15 cm before casting off for the neckline like this. Begin from the WS: Cast off 10,3,2,1,1 every second row. Purl next row and put shoulder sts on a cable ndl.
Back: Purl 1 row.  Continue knitting st st and at the same time decrease 1 sts at each side every second row 5 times altog = 56 sts on row.  Purl 1 row.  On next row ...

To make the outfit a little chic I knitted this pink cap ...

... with only a small grey ridge round the edge.

The cap is a little wide and make your doll look elegant.

Cast on 72 sts in pink. Knit the sts onto 4 double pointed ndls (18 sts on each ndl) and continue knitting 4 rows st st.  Change to grey and knit 2 rows ga. (k1 row, p1 row = 1 ridge on the RS). Change to pink and knit 4 rows ga. (k1row, p1 row, k 1 row, p 1 row = 2 ridges on the RS) Continue knitting 2 rows st st. On next row increase 1 sts in every sts = 144 sts on row.  Continue knitting  ...

The pants are knitted in grey and have a small pink ridge round the legs. It is hold up with a chord in pink bound round the waist. A sneak peek at this pattern ... Pants 1st leg: Cast on 40 sts in grey and knit 4 rows st st. Change to pink and knit 2 rows ga (= 1 ridge on the RS), Change to grey and knit 4 rows ga before knitting 2 rows st st.  On next row increase 1 sts in every 4th sts = 50 sts on row.  Purl next row and put work aside.  Knit the other leg in the same way. Knit both legs onto a little circular ndl or 4 double pointed ndls and continue knitting in the round. Knit 2 rows ga over all sts.  Place a marker for center front and center back. Begin row from center back and do the following decreases: K1, k2tog, knit until 3 sts before center front, k2tog TBL, k2, k2tog, knit until 3 sts from center back, k2tog TBL, k1.  Repeat   ... At last, I knitted these small pink socks to finish this elegant outfit. A sneak peek at this pattern ... Socks Cast on 32 sts in pink and knit 4 rows st st.  Change to grey and knit 2 rows ga. Change to pink and knit 4 rows ga, 2 rows st st. Continue knitting 12 rows st st over the 12 center sts.  Pick up 6 sts along each side of the flap and knit 6 rows altog over all sts before decreasing for the sole like this: 1st row: k3, k2tog Tbl, k10, k2tog TBL, k10, k2tog, k10, k2tog, k3. 2nd row: knit 1 row 3rd row: k3, k2tog TBL, k9, k2tog TBL, k8, k2tog, k9, k2tog, k3. 4th row: ...
